I am an Early Intervention therapist for children birth-age 3. Every time I buy new books to use with my kiddos, I find myself always choosing books by Roger Priddy. I love (as do my children and those I work with) the REAL pictures rather than drawings and the solid backgrounds. It's very clear what vocabulary I am trying to teach. Again - I LOVE this book, and all of the others I have in my collection. I return to them again and again.
"Every child loves animals-and this innovative full-color workbook uses animals to teach important skills in science, math, language arts, and social studies. The perforated pages are packed with activities, pull-out animal books, and color-your-own animal posters. An answer key is included for ease of use."
When I was in first grade, I had an art teacher who tried to show us how to draw using circles, lines, perspective, and so on, and I remember distinctly the experience of knowing that I could draw circles (and to an extent, straight lines) but there was no way I could put them together in a way that would look anything like the teacher's work.
